LOL some great reading.
LOL Well done Gatvol -- a very informative posting -- excuses excuses LOL.
Just a question -- how can this site attract more black readers?
My experience with local SA black people is for them to become aggressive / abusive and end up denying when faced with the facts before them.
It's no good for us all to post opinion here if it is not getting to the core market -- I mean me posting comment here is not to let off steam but to get the attention of the general black population so that voters can wake up and smell the roses.
WE NEED BETTER QUALIFIED PEOPLE IN CONTROL!

While during the next seven years we will see many changes in the world of demographics and political strife,i believe that the global economic meltdown will have an accumalative attitude of agression toward caucasians in southern africa coupled to it!As economic growth slows down and industry encounters labour related crisis,so too will the SACP take advantage of this, with extreme propaganda towards whites! http://unforgivingcode.peperonity.com

Hi Anonymous,
I moderate many of the comments and handle incoming mail. Sometimes when I am away for a few days, there may be others who do some moderating. Keep this in mind, if you will. Believe me it is a daily struggle to decide what to do about some of the comments. I have just a few rules which I must follow, and beyond that, Jan has given us the OK to post or delete as we see fit. I believe in free speech and I know that Jan does too. It is not so easy as one might think to push that delete button. The person who took time to write and post some thoughts can speak out if they follow the simple rules. We try to keep to a minimum the subjects that tend to be divisive, as our goal is to bring people together for a common good. We do not wish to encourage language that will inflames the already stressed racial tension. SO, when you see something that irritates you, just skip over it. Jan and the rest of us on the AC team do not always agree with what is posted here. We DO agree people need a place to speak out. I'm sorry if this troubles you. The world is made up of all sorts of people and nothing makes that more evident than reading here on AC, the comments regarding issues in southern Africa. I will agree with you that some don't seem relevant, but then we are only two of the whole. THANKS for writing. We ALL need to remember the HUGE numbers of visitors to this site and realize that thousands and thousands of people read what we write here. We should think about that and not put the whole burden on those of us who have control of the the "approve" or "delete" buttons.
Kind regards,
JoAn

Jan,
I've been a frequent visitor to your website for a long time and appreciate the work you do, but Holy Crap! Who moderates and allows some of the comments on here?
I've never seen such incoherent, netiquette-less, off-topic, mind numbing, inconsequential clap-trap as exhibited by some of the regular "commentators". How can you/we take these guys and their comments seriously?
If this is any indication of the type of person out there who wants to react to the general mismanagement of Africa, we're totally screwed.

Dear friends,
I've been visiting your website for several months, to learn about the events in southern Africa. My maternal grandfather was born in Johannesburg, SA., and emigrated to the USA in the early 20th Century. Please allow me to interject some hope, amidst all of the problems that my African friends are experiencing. You know America is having its problems too. The whole world is moving rapidly into change. Truly, we're all family. We must develop a new consciousness of oneness.
The root cause of all strife is fear and materialism.
The world's economic problems have a spiritual, not a legal or political solution. There's no doubt that The New Capitalism of the global age that we're now entering, whether we like it or not, will be the world's economic engine. But instead of being fueled by greed, manipulation, scarcity and the control of knowledge for the benefit of a very few select individuals on the planet as it has in the past and until now, the New Capitalism is completely different. It is rooted in a spiritual consciousness that's connected to enlightened "heart" energy. A new "race" of humans are already living today. They're scattered all over the planet. Their numbers are growing. They exist at all levels of society. They are the guardians of Justice. They value and reward individuals, companies and governments, to the degree that those individuals, companies and governments promote anything and everything that increases abundance, well-being and happiness for all people. Without hesitation they withdraw support for any entity that manipulates, creates scarcity, holds back knowledge, overpower others, or works against the common weal of humanity.
I'm optimistic in that I believe all our trials and tribulations are moving us toward this inevitable shift of consciousness - which I believe, will be a permanent change for all of us. The change is already well advanced. It's happening right now. When it reaches a certain stage, we will begin to see a rapid shift in the world markets, prices, increases in abundance, cessation of hostilities, rethinking of our religious beliefs, introductions of new wonderful technologies that make us freer to enjoy life, and many other incredible changes that will serve to liberate humans from centuries of enslavement. We will have more time and energy to pursue what promotes the world's happiness even further!
Once this process reaches maturity, there will be no end to human civilization's advancement. I believe this is one of the meanings of the scriptural reference to "the day that shall not be followed by night."
Blessings,

This is an excellent site. If the people of Africa are to prosper, instead of only the rapacious elites, there will have to be a widespread dialogue about pressing issues, goals, programs, and who will be allowed to produce. This will require exposure to, and consideration of many viewpoints which are now not popular, or are forbidden.
I spent several years in Liberia during the waning "good days" of the Tolbert regime. The high level looting of the Treasury was beyond belief and directly lead to the rice riots which ultimately toppled the entire social ediface. The political elites lived in absolute splendor while the masses lived in abject poverty. Workers lucky enough to work as tappers at Firestone's rubber plantation were paid US$1.00 per day plus 100 pounds of rice per month. Today, the situation has passed from dire to hopeless. No money and no rice are readily available. Liberia has been driven back to Stone Age conditions with lifespans collapsing from almost sixty to under forty years of age. The consequences of the most divisive ravages of rampant tribalism are apparent wherever one looks.
Africans must fully understand the choices before them. If they choose to be progressive members of the modern, global society, they will need assistance of others -- and the rule of law -- to do so. Neither America nor England ever existed as wholly white societies. Their strengths derived from the productive contributions of individuals from many varied backgrounds. Bitter experience has shown that Black-only societies will suffer from needless, self-imposed constraints. Should African society remain subject to tribalism as a driving social institution, then the masses will be little more than fodder for the latest parasitic oligarchs at the top.

Why don't white South Africans demand from the EU a "right of return" to Europe. The EU keeps asking for those wacky arabs the "palestinians". If the EU don't grant it then take a leaf out of the palestinian playbook, seems the terrorism works.

In the U.K today, the government gives money to illegals to leave the country,a nice little "golden handshake"its cheaper than keeping them locked up!
Many of these illegals go home and begin thriving business with their money.
I tell, you if Mad Bob goes and things get back to normalcy in Rhodesia,I would lobby for payouts for citizens to get a lump sum payout to escape "Mother England"
I for one and many British Rhodesians,I guess would snap the payouts and head back to Africa to start up a business, this isnt living in England, its existing.
My take anyway

Lies and more lies from the ANC
Sonjica said people did not understand how Parliament worked and while she was making a speech (on energy saving ideas) she was interrupted by heckling.
(Of course we know parliament it is a circus run by clowns)
"Tony Leon (MP and former DA leader) said: 'Minister, what do you do after you go to bed?' and I said go to bed, you are stupid, you go to bed ... and you will become clever'.
(mind your mouth nanny!)
"It is unfortunate that you have trivialised it ... it has become international news."
(the truth shall set you free)
On 30 January, Sonjica told MPs during a special joint parliamentary sitting to discuss the issue that perpetual power cuts could be avoided if South Africans used power more responsibly.
(why because you and your ilk f@cked up)
"Go to sleep earlier so that you can grow and be cleverer. Boil less water, use the microwave rather than stove, take a shower and not a shallow bath," she was reported to have said.
Aishhhhhhh wena!
Response plan
During Tuesday's briefing, she went through some points of the response plan.
The plan included the immediate implementation of a power-rationing programme, restricting the sale of incandescent light bulbs, and a penalty and incentive scheme to conserve electricity.
(dodo why penalise the paying public when you have millions of Spaza connections in the townships???)
Asked about the health concerns of using wood as an alternate energy source, she said she had not said this (again denials like Erwin), but it was pointed by a reporter that this was one of the points listed on the "Energy Saving Tips" information sheet contained in the press pack.
(we suggest al politicians pay double the going rate per unit of electricity) and a surcharge of 20% of their salaries,
However, the department was planning to reintroduce a door-to-door campaign to teach people how to burn wood for energy with less smoke. Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa! Bulllllllshit baffles!
Sonjica said her own energy-saving measures included having solar heating installed and she has a paraffin stove in her house.
Lies and more lies!
Power cuts a reality until 2013 thanks to you and the incompetence of your cabal.
According to the response plan, the risk of power cuts would remain high until at least 2013 if immediate action is not taken.
In 2001, 4.31 percent more energy was consumed than in 2006 and the growth in peak demand from 2006 to 2007 was 4.90 percent.
(yea and Eskom is exporting energy to SWA ,Zim,Moz, Tanzania and Congo) and it is only running at 80% capacity.
Electricity prices would need to increase substantially to fund the new capacity being built and electricity needed to be used more efficiently.
(sell off the white elephant armaments and build power stations with the proceeds)
After all who is going to attack Simonstown and our subs ,which no one knows how to run.
Planned maintenance reduced the amount of spare power available and reserves during planned maintenance were lower than required.
(Liar , no maintenance reduced our power capability, no spares and no expertise)
Running power stations "hard" also meant that equipment was highly stressed and resulted in the increase in blackouts and generator trips. ( the only thing you know to run hard are your Tackies)
The plan noted that it was "crucial" that Eskom work with the department and begin acquiring higher quality coal to enable generators to run at full capacity.
(bullllllshiiiiit we have been using 22MJ since the founding of our powergrid)
A power generation capacity expansion programme was currently underway, with plans for 1155MW and 2421MW to be added to the system in 2008 and 2009.
( I hope you called in experts to advise , otherwise we will be back to burning dung)
"De-mothballed" ( pray madam Zingara why were they mothballed in the first place?)
Plants were also being "de-mothballed" but the additional capacity would only come on-stream from 2012 onwards.
The key elements of the power conservation programme would be to achieve a savings target of 10 to 15 percent of electricity over time.
The large energy consumers could be required to reduce their consumption based on the following targets: industrial - 10 percent; commercial - 15 percent; hotels, resorts, shopping malls and conference centres - 20 percent; large office buildings, government, municipal and electricity utility offices - 15 percent; agriculture - 5 percent; residential 10 percent.
For special cases, like hospitals, essential and security installations, no targets would be imposed.
Focus team for 2010
A focus team would look at the requirements for 2010.
Penalties and cut offs were being explored and there was also a proposal that consumers could trade-in the unused portion of their quota allocation.
Regulations that enforced the incentives and penalties have already been drafted in terms of the Electricity Regulation Act.
Legislation would be introduced to restrict the sale of incandescent lights and the Department of Environment and Tourism was expected to develop protocols for the disposal of the replaced lighting.
The department was also considering a subsidy of between 20 to 30 percent for the installation of solar water heaters.
These energy saving measures were to be included into building standards, as well as specifications on ceiling and geyser insulation and double glazing, and the housing department planned to "mandate" that all new houses were to be fitted with solar water heaters with a back up electrical element.
"Smart metering", could allow consumers to connect and disconnect their electricity through the use of wireless technology.
All traffic lights and public lights would be converted to solar power with a battery backup ? and there was also a plan to shut down motorway lighting.
It all sounds like horse dung and a plan made in Polokwane by those who f@cked up in the first place.
Pray for the Mlungu to save SA under your rule.

Well, I see a brain dead American posted from the marxist perspective. LOL, blacks were a hell of a lot better off in the old days than now. So were Whites.
Nonetheless, congrats on your site from one American who does understand what is going on there. Negroes worldwide are what they are and they will send SA right back to the Stone Age if left alone.
South Africa was one amazing place in the old days. Even a nuclear program! Thanks, though, for dismantling it and not allowing it in to the hands of primitive people.
I check this site daily now. I will continue to post links on the sites I visit.
