Did you know Mandela "signed off" on the Church Street Bombing?Date Posted: Tuesday 26-Jul-2005[I hope Anthony Lobaido who is a regular columnist on WorldNetDaily.com doesn't mind me passing his comments on to everyone - but Anthony wrote something very interesting which I was unaware of.
Anthony and I were having a chat with someone who was asking us about Nelson Mandela's Terrorist background when Anthony came up with this fascinating statement:-
"PS ... note that in his book Long Walk to Freedom Mandela talks of Church Street Bombing and how he signed off on it, and how it made him feel. Go to the bookstore and check the index of that book."
Interesting huh? I did not know this.
Two former co-workers of mine died in that blast. I lived 1 block away from where the bomb went off. I was staying in the YMCA at the time. A number of people I worked with had some very narrow escapes on that day. My boss at the time was in a bookstore nearby when the bomb went off. He told me how one woman in the bookstore went completely hysterical and he slapped her to bring her to her senses. The bomb was timed to go off during the rush hour traffic. Another girl I worked with (whom I had a big crush on at the time!) told how she normally caught the double-decker busses which passed by that area at that time and how on that day it was a sheer miracle that she was not there.
The bomb killed 14 people and injured 180.
I was saying to Anthony and our correspondent that I believe the ANC's greatest act of terrorism might be the one which nobody (except me!) has dared to write about in public - and that is the downing of "The Helderberg" - the Boeing 747 which went into the Indian Ocean in the 1980's killing all on board.
I wrote about it in a chapter in my book, Government by Deception, in a chapter called "Blaming the Whites". In that chapter I wrote about things the ANC blamed us for which we never did.
As for Mandela signing off on the Church Street Bombing while in prison - well - I didn't bother reading his book so this is news to me. Jan] There are no Readers' Comments for this article
