South Africa: Song for peace

Date Posted: Saturday 03-May-2008

February 09, 2007 Cape Argus

Singer and performer André Schwartz has written a song entitled Gentle

Protest to express his disgust at spiraling crime in South Africa.

Schwartz has urged people to download it from the Internet. "The song is for

free. People can download it, copy it. I don't want a cent. I want crime to

stop."

He hopes that through the song he has literally given a voice to South

Africans who cannot enjoy a peaceful night's rest due to crime.

He said his inspiration was "a matter of what the heart was full of". Last

weekend he had been talking about crime with a friend, Etienne Puren, "and

we just grabbed a pen and paper and started writing". "The words just poured

out," said the singer, who played the lead in Phantom of the Opera and the

evil man in Aladdin.

On Monday he recorded the song which, in contrast to the searing lyrics, is

set to the tune of the well-known Afrikaans lullaby Slaap Piekanien.

He said the song was meant as a wake-up call to all South Africans - "and,

hopefully, the powers that be".

"That was one of the reasons why we wrote the song in English, so that

everyone can understand it. Crime is not an enemy to one language group."

The song can be accessed at www.andreschwartzprotest.co.za

I think that the artist is more interested in a "piece" of the pie then peace.

LOL! A lullaby singing Laventel Haan!
Will Afrikaner liberals never learn anything?
Tulalulalulaloooooo.... a „plea“ to the black communist terrorist mass murderers by an Afrikaner Softy who still wants to STAY a proud citizen of the „democratic rainbow-nation“, wich never really existed. Absolutely ridiculous and stupid wishful thinking!

„...this horrid state of affairs MUST be resolved“... Yeah, right, André!
But unfortunately there are only a few real men there in SA and you liberal fools would never listen to them... or dare follow them.
