IMPORTANT: Chinese Ship with Weapons for Robert Mugabe arrives in South African Port
Date Posted: Wednesday 16-Apr-2008[Who would openly be able to import weapons through a South African port? Well, for you and me and the MDC (Zimbabwe opposition) it is illegal. So, the only answer appears to me that this shipload is for weapons for Mugabe. Plus Mugabe is a past client of China and has bought shipments of weapons from them before.
Earlier this decade he bought tanks from China when he feared violence there was a Russian plane load of 21,000 AK47's that he brought in once.
Mugabe bought arms before directly from Communist China. Take a look at this article I wrote back in 2002:-
The Military Options of Farmers in Southern Africa
Back in 2005, we also discussed US funding of a war against Mugabe and how cheap it would be:-
If USA diverted 1 hour's worth of Iraq spending to Zim, Mugabe would be gone
Mugabe did buy tanks from China in one of his past purchases when he feared revolution against his despotic regime.
I mentioned to Robb Ellis (Author of "Without Honour" - who witnessed the murder of blacks in Zimbabwe in the 1980's) that I had received this news report. Everyone has been wondering why Mugabe is not releasing the election results - for over 2 weeks now. Then Robb replied with this:-
Hi Jan
Funnily enuff, I just rec'd an email saying the reason why Mugabe is holding the results is because they are awaiting a shipment of Chinese armaments...
Mmmmm...
Rgds
So now it seems to me, Robb and I might have put two and two together with a friend of Robbs. It is also interesting that this arms shipment to Mugabe will go through South Africa. It shows collusion and approval by the South African Govt. Buying military weapons... on this scale is a very illegal activity... The fact that this has landed in Durban harbour indicates that Mugabe got permission from the South African Govt for this.
Furthermore, since he has many times mentioned his support of China and China's support of him and his "look east" policy... It all proves to me, quite conclusively that these weapons are here for Robert Mugabe and his illegal regime in Zimbabwe. And it has come with the blessing of the South African Govt - and most probably with that of our President and other senior officials.
In my view, I firmly believe Mugabe will outdo himself and will murder MORE than merely the 30,000 Matabele people whom he murdered in the 1980s. He did say he is willing to be a Hitler ten-fold. Back in 2003, the US Govt chided Mugabe for his Hitler comments: US Slames Mugabe's 'Black Hitler' speech
Today already, the first photos appeared of Blacks in Zimbabwe being beaten and burned and attacked by Mugabe's scum. The Citizen newspaper in South Africa published the details. I firmly believe that Mugabe will out-do himself and will murder more Black people than Idi Amin did. I feel that for Mugabe to murder 1 million people is really no problem. I have expressed this opinion many times over the years. Watch him do it AND GET AWAY WITH IT. That is even more sickening. WE NEED INTERNATIONAL ASSISTANCE IN ORDER TO SAVE LIVES IN ZIMBABWE IN THE COMING WEEKS, MONTHS AND YEARS UNTIL MUGABE IS GONE. Jan]
Durban - The SA Police Explosives Unit confirmed on Wednesday that an uncleared Chinese vessel docked at the outer anchorage of the Port of Durban is carrying arms.
Customs revealed that the shipment was destined for Zimbabwe.
Inspector Nicholas Gunther of the SA Explosives Unit in Durban told Sapa the vessel - called 'An Yue Jiang' - was carrying a shipment of arms.
"We went there just now and they are not being allowed in," he said. "There was a problem with the documents they submitted and we have directed the matter to the Chief Inspector of Explosives in Pretoria, Senior Superintendent van Sittert and it may take days for them to get clearance," said Gunther.
And if the vessel does not get clearance, it would have to leave.
Gunther explained that if, for example, the ship was carrying 500 containers and only one container had not been cleared, the vessel would sill be allowed to enter the port.
Shipment headed for Zimbabawe
"They would be allowed to enter, offload those containers that have been cleared by the South African government and leave with those that had not been cleared."
The inspector added that a lot of the cargo onboard was destined for companies in South Africa.
Asked if he knew whether any was destined for Zimbabwe, he said he was not sure. "But if it was trans-shipment then it gets imported here and is sent by road or rail to neighbouring countries. We are not sure if that's what they are doing," he said.
Leonard Hadebe, head of Durban Customs told Sapa: "We have confirmed that the shipment was headed for Zimbabawe. It arrived at the Durban Harbour on April 14.
"Right now the ship is awaiting clearance. If they are carrying any prohibited or illegal goods, they will be detained by customs," said Hadebe.
National Ports Authority spokesperson Ricky Bhikraj confirmed that a vessel called 'An Yue Jiang' had entered the Port of Durban.
"We can confirm that there is an uncleared vessel (not cleared to enter port) by that name currently at the outer anchorage. The allegations are being handled by the various national security authorities," he said.
Noseweek editor Martin Welz earlier told Sapa: "The cargo ship was openly delivering a containment of arms for Zimbabwe."
Asked where he had obtained the information from, Welz said it was his own business.
Dennis Abrio of the national branch of the SA Police Service said he would comment on the matter once he had details.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Superintendent Vincent Mdunge said he could not comment.

Isn't there anybody out there who could assasinate this Dictator? As long as He is in charge there will never be a liveable economy for all the people He has destroyed!Hopefully somebody has the courage to end the suffring for the people! In a world where voting is a sham and elections are fixed the way the incumbant wishes to have the election results you can never get them out once they get in,They think the position is theirs forever,And thats why they need to be forced out no matter what the course of action and I do mean in any country!

Russel! You stole my thoughts! hehe
Sun Tzu's Art of War dictates that we should consume the enemies resources instead of our own so it makes sense to capture enemy tanks and guns.

I guess it would be big pity if the weapons did not get to Zimbabwe but ended up in the hands of criminals in South Africa. So one would hope that for the sake of all South Africans that is is well guarded as it is trans-shipped to Zimbabwe. I would guess that another forlorn hope would be that Zimbabwe would be required to pick up the tab for the extra guards this would need.
