Africa with smaller GDP than Mexico spent £150 billion on Black-on-Black Wars

ARMED conflict in Africa has cost around £150 billion over a 15-year period - effectively wiping out the international aid the continent received during the same time, it was claimed today.

On average, a war, civil war or insurgency shrinks an African economy by 15 per cent, with the continent losing £9 billion a year due to armed conflict.

The research findings by Oxfam International and campaigning groups International Action Network on Small Arms (IANSA) and Saferworld are being used to press for a new international arms trade treaty.

The report, Africa's Missing Billions, estimated the GDP for 23 African nations involved in conflict between 1990 and 2005 by comparing them to peaceful countries of a similar economic status.

A country such as Guinea Bissau, which endured a civil war between 1998 and 1999, would have had a projected growth rate of 5.24 per cent if it had remained peaceful, whereas the actual growth rate was minus 10.15 per cent.

The study highlighted the role of the Kalashnikov assault rifle, or AK 47, in conflict in the continent. Kalashnikovs are the most common weapon in African conflicts and are nearly all made outside Africa, it said.

[This has to be placed in perspective. According to the British Africa expert, Martin Meredith (author of: "The State of Africa"), Africa has less than 2% of the world's GDP. Africa as a WHOLE, with about 800 million people has a GDP that is SMALLER THAN THAT OF MEXICO!

Yet Africa is ravaged from end to end by strife and war - which is getting worse.

However, how many of you have heard of any of the massive wars that have been fought in Africa? Whole wars are fought in Africa which nobody pays much attention to.

There are two glaring facts that everyone ignores:-
1. You will never hear anyone pointing out that during Colonialism and Apartheid that there was NO BLACK ON BLACK CONFLICT IN AFRICA FOR well over 50 years. In some countries there was black-on-black PEACE for over a CENTURY - WHILE THOSE COUNTRIES WERE UNDER WHITE RULE. Nobody EVER points out that there was PEACE IN AFRICA DURING WHITE RULE. White people PREVENTED BLACK-ON-BLACK STRIFE during Colonial times. You will NEVER hear that White people were PEACE MAKERS. But that is what they were. White people PREVENTED many wars, and in South Africa, whites even prevented the genocide of the whole Indian race by the Zulus in 1949. The role of whites as peacemakers is NEVER mentioned by anyone. Furthermore, of course during Colonial rule, Whites brought Law & Order to black societies and that is why there was massive GROWTH during Colonial rule which has NEVER BEEN EQUALLED SINCE.

2. The other thing you will ALWAYS hear coming out of Africa, and which is in the Mass Media of the world is the mantra: "The Whites... the whites are the problem... kick out the whites... the whites are keeping the black people in poverty... get rid of the whites and Africa will prosper." This mantra comes of course from the BLACK LEADERS. The Black Leaders pump out this mantra all the time, while they are driving the whites out and taking what they own. They shout this mantra loudly while they are stealing from the whites, and giving virtually nothing to the POOR BLACKS IN WHOSE NAME THEY ARE STEALING! They keep what they steal for themselves and their cronies. It is these same Black Leaders who make war, and carry out GENOCIDE OF BLACKS! People continuously try to blame the Whites for the problems of Africa, but Africa never had more black-on-black violence and civil war and GENOCIDE than it had AFTER COLONIAL RULE!

You only hear about the problems whites caused. During all 48 years of Apartheid, a maximum of 20,000 Blacks died. How evil was Apartheid? But Robert Mugabe murdered about 30,000 black Matabele people in the early 1980's in his country alone (before engaging in multiple massive wars in other countries in Africa). Idi Amin of Uganda killed 300,000 blacks while his successor Obote killed 1 million.

The battle cry from the leaders of Africa is constantly: "The whites, the whites, the DAMNED WHITES... get RID OF THE WHITES... and our problems will be SOLVED!" But that's the biggest lie of all!

Their problems started once they kicked the whites out, and its just getting worse by the year. Africa gets $26 billion in aid ANNUALLY, which is more than what Germany and Japan received under the Marshall Plan. The Marshall Plan ran for only 4 years and cost $13 billion. Africa is returning to the state it was in before whites colonised it. It is returning to its state of eternal black-on-black conflict before whites made peace here and brought it a Golden Age of development known as "Colonialism".

Don't expect it to get better either. Many of Africa's current leaders are the very source of its problems. Expect black poverty and conflict in Africa to get much worse.

The Aboriginals wiped out the original inhabitants of Australia, but it wasn't 40,000 years ago, recent research suggests it was as early as 3,000 years ago. Which tends to be more believable, given the migration patterns of people through south east asia.

Leave Africa be, genocide and AIDS will wipe out the parasites, then just move back in, no dramas.

As I have pointed out to other readers of this page the Aborigines weren't the first people to live in Australia. The Aborigines wiped out the original native people.
Yes, the Aborigines lived here for 40,000 years and did nothing with the continent except wipe the forrests out with bushfires, it took the intelligence of the European to turn this country into one of the most successful societies on earth.
Mr. T if whites are so bad why don't all the African blacks living in America,England,France etc. pack up and move to Africa to starve or live under the rule of a black dictator.

Like a self-described white "conservative" you just state the portions of the fact that is convinient to you and leave out the rest. The 400 billion for aid in Africa is just payback for

1) Eternal strife in Africa due to the artificial borders drawn up by Europeans. Was there any consultanions with Africans when the borders were drawn up? No

2) Wholesale plunder of African resources. European industrial revolution was financed by loot from Africa and elsewhere

3) Widespread brutality, read about the Congo Free State and King Leopold.Half the population in present day Congo was gone in 20-30 years.

4) Slavery again resulting in millions of deaths.

Of course there was peace in Africa in white man's rule. This was due to the fact that the Africans were too hungry, poor and wretched to fight. If I perpetually starve you, would you have the will to fight,I guess not.

Now I am not condoning Africa's horrible leaders or its current pathetic state but people like you make me sick. Colonialism was good,huh? Well good for racist assholes like you but defnitely not good for Africa.

Well as I went to West Africa for two years I had no racial hang ups at all. I spend one year in Nigeria and another year In the Ivory coast. The year in Nigeria was the year in a human made hell. In the Ivory coast it was quite relaxing.
My conclusions were never ever to get back to Africa. The apartheid was still in SA but most black people in other African wanted to go to SA for the better living conditions.
For me Africa was a bit like Alice in wonderland, nothing was the way it appears to be. As I left Africa my anti discrimination outlook did change completely. I do believe the best to do for all white or Asian people is to get out of Africa, leave the local people to themselves and also cut off all foreign aid. Then go back in 20 years time and take over the empty continent. The locals will by that time be dead due to starvation as they can not even run farms efficiently. So leave them alone, no aid or other help and the problem will be solved.

BTW, during Apartheid, Jan Lamprecht was living in S.Africa. I knew, from past experience of living in Rhodesia what the game was, and I TOTALLY APPROVED OF ALL THE ANC/PAC TRASH WHICH THE ARMY AND POLICE IN SOUTH AFRICA DEALT WITH. MOST OF THEM GOT FREE AND FAIR TRIALS AND WERE PUBLISHED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE LAW - just like the West does now with Arab terrorists.

Africa receives about $15-billion ANNUALLY in foreign development aid from all over the world. Most of this money is never accounted for by African government leaders - but whenever they have another dramatic famine, flood or drought, or another civil war, the money starts rolling in again.

I think these foreign aid agencies should simply hand their money over directly to the weapons' manufacturers and get it over and done with.

Zimbabwe solved its weaponry requirements very simply this year: they wiped out most of their elephant herds in the wildlife reserves -- and gave tons of ivory harvested this way to China in exchange for modern weaponry.

The Congolese, Sierra Leonan and Liberian warlords get weapons by putting thousands of child-slaves to work mining many valuable minerals including coltran mud, needed for cellphone-technology by the west.

The diamond-mining trade route runs from the Congo, Sierra Leone to Liberia, where they are purchased by African-American Liberian warlords -- descendants of former American slaves -- who present themselves as high-profile 'politicians' in the USA and seem to be getting away with murder and slavery while still managing to look good in the news media.

And in spite of high-profile movies such as "Dirty Diamonds" these African-American warlords can still very easily get their hands on countless illegal diamonds and other precious minerals such as Tanzanite, which for some unknown reason still is dug out of the ground by child-slaves even though it can now be duplicated mechanically, just like diamonds.

South African criminals gangs - also run by tribal warlords in the cities, and who hail from anywhere on the African continent -- also get their weaponry by the illegal mining of existing gold- and platinum-mines.

It's a $1,5-billion a year trade according to the SA cops. These 'pirate slave-miners' remain underground in 'hijacked' industrial mine shafts for months, where they blast away into the stope face without any regard to safety - often causing massive cave-ins.

Their illegal gold and platinum, melted down in backyard smelters in townships clustered around the goldmines, are given as 'in-kind' payment for weapons.

These pirate-miners themselves get paid in kind too: they get fed and watered by their 'friends' aboveground while slavering away in dark, extremely dangerous mineshafts for months on end. Nobody knows how many have already died this way, deep underground.

Even clumps of imperfectly-melted down gold and platinum are worth a lot more than paper dollars - always have been.

Indeed Africa has many resources.

And Africans enslaving other Africans still remains its largest resource. As it has done for centuries.

I always have a different thought, to the rest of my countrymen, when different charities parade bloated-stomach, near starvation children, across our TV screens here in Australia. NEVER, do they tell the truth, which is that these children are starving because of black-on-black wars, that have destroyed crops and left fertile feilds full of landmines, so the white farmers can't cultivate the soil (provided thay haven't been killed or driven out). Then a story about 150 billion pounds, pissed up against the wall, because of this warfare. LISTEN TO ME, all you whites in Africa, please apply for refugee status here in Australia. Let the stupid black bastards wipe themselves out, then move back when they are finished.
