SA: IMPORTANT: Cop gives uniforms to armed robbers

Johannesburg - A police constable has been arrested for supplying police uniforms for a planned armed robbery in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.

Police spokesperson Captain Leonard Hlati said on Saturday the attempt botched after three of the gang were killed in a shootout with police acting on a tip-off earlier this month.

A further three people were arrested and a four-by-four they had used was recovered. It had been reported stolen from Kanyamazane township.

Police also seized a pistol and two stolen police rifles.

The policeman and the three members of gang will appear in court on August 3
