Blacks 'six Times More At Risk' From HIV/AIDS In South Africa

Black South Africans are six times more likely to contract HIV/AIDS than other South Africans, a conference on the virus was told Wednesday in Johannesburg.

"In 2005, blacks were found to be the most affected - of the order six to seven times higher than non-Africans," the head of the health department's HIV/AIDS programme, Dr Nomonde Xundu, said.

Xundu was speaking at the presentation of a new National Strategic Plan for AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections.

The plan, which runs from 2007 to 2011, will cost 25 billion rand (3.3 billion dollars) and has ambitious aims to halve the number of new HIV infections.

The government also aims to provide treatment to a least 80 per cent of HIV-positive people by 2011, the plan showed.

Around 40 per cent of the plan's cost is expected to go towards paying for anti-retroviral (ARV) treatment.

Women and shack dwellers were particularly vulnerable to HIV infection, Xundu said, with women three times as likely as men to contract the virus.

Statistics also show an increase in infections among the 20-25 age group, she said.

South Africa has the second-highest number of people living with HIV/AIDS after India.

An estimated 5.5 million South Africans are HIV-positive but health officials say they have difficulty finding them because many do not get tested.

I read your comments with interst and will take this opportunity as a moderator to interject some thoughts of my own. You obviously have not spent enough time here to grasp the purpose of African Crisis. If you think it is the dumbest and most hate filled site you have seen then I suggest you find other sites to read and respond to that are more in line with your thinking. I can think of nothing to suggest to you, but surely there are some. To place yourself in an enviorment that is totally against your interests, is truly dumb! OR, you could do some further reading here and discover that we are dedicated to presenting news out of southern Africa, with comments as time allows. I could care less about what happens in S.A, white or black your both facetious peoples.

Work on your problems and STFU about your races, that is a root cause of your problems. AIDS does not really care what your skin color is now does it? So stop acting like we or anyone else for that matter is immune to this deadly virus.

And the Vatican needs to stop with their "no condoms" nonsense like they did to Africa, and are still trying to push on the Brazilians.

AIDS was only identified during the early eighties. However,I would like to tell you about an illness that the Blacks here in South Africa called the "thinning sickness" and which I heard of for the first time in 1967.

During all the years of growing up, I cannot recall my mother ever having help (a maid or char) to assist her with her chores around the home until 1966. During that year a Black woman by the name of Triphina knocked on the door and begged my mother to employ her as her husband had died and she had six children to feed. Feeling sorry for her, my mother agreed to give her a chance. Triphina was a large, hefty person with a great sense of humor and we absolutely adored her.

During 1967 Triphina became ill and was off work quite a lot. Her fingernails started turning black and what looked like blisters appeared on her neck, arms and legs and she rappidly started losing weight. Afraid that what Triphina had might be contagious, my mother took Triphina to the doctor. The doctor prescribed medicine and ointment and assured us that whatever Triphina had, was not contagious.

Me, being young and very figure conscious, asked Triphina what her diet was, because by this time she was less than half her original body size. Triphina replied that she had, what the Blacks call the "thinning sickness" and that it was a common occurrence amongst the Black people. In March 1968 Triphina died of Pneumonia.

The question I wish to raise here is... this "thinning sickness" as Triphina described it, which was, according to her, a common occurrence amongst her people - could this not have been AIDS as we know it today?

Keep the white man out of the lands of black people and you wouldn't have AIDS in Africa or anywhere else. He spreads AIDS through the use of vaccines and mercenaries pretending to be missionaries. The white man is the murderer and is responsible for the spread of AIDS.

The suggestion that it is only the poor Blacks in South Africa who live in shacks and have to bear hardships and that is the reason why they are more inclined to be HIV positive or have AIDS, is a statement derived from pure ignorance of the situation here in this beautiful country of mine.

Granted, many Blacks are still living in shacks, however, millions of them are illegals entering the country from neighbouring Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Mozambique. South African Blacks living in shacks have, since 1994, been receiving free homes - not paying a cent towards Them. There is still a backlog, but it is narrowing.

Being granted free homes is not the priviledge of the poor Whites in South Africa, many of whom, also live in shacks, garages, back rooms, etc. Many of these Whites have been forced out of their workplace to make room for unqualified Black workers.

However, living in a shack or a back yard does not give you HIV or AIDS. Black men do not want to use condoms and many of them, according to their culture, have more than one wife and also a number of girlfriends. The Black women whom I have spoken to are very aware of the fact that they have a good chance of contracting HIV, but live in fear of losing their men if they demand that a condom be used. The Zulu king also does not set a good example by having - at the last count - 6 wives - and is contemplating marrying more.

Our Government had to be taken to court to force them to give HIV and AIDS sufferers anti-virals. Government hospitals still cannot prescribe these as they are not provided with any. Very few White volunteers, who look after and feed the AIDS orphans, are given any financial assistance, because the Government insists on the majority of their volunteers being Black even though very few Black volunteers are forthcoming. Our Minister of Health is the laughing stock of the world but she still persists in prescribing beetroot, fruit and garlic as a cure to HIV and AIDS instead of looking after the already affected sufferers.

Our Government hospitals are in a shocking state and more filthy than any shack dweller's home. The South African Government is on the way to collapse due to lack of vision and expertise. I predict that we will be following the same route as Zimbabwe within a few years.

The zionist owned news can cover this up but they cant cover up reality of it occuring due to the sexual primitive animalistic promiscuousness of the black race as a whole and that goes for all of Africa and those in other parts of the world including America where hiv/aids is the same rate as SA.
This same zionist media covers of the horrific violent crimes committed in America also as whites are brutally raped murdered assaulted and robbed millions of times annually while jails are filled costing taxpayers more 100s of billions to go with the welfare and all other costs the white race has to burden because they mistakenly removed them from the jungles 400 yrs ago to be "servants" where they were not to be disturbed.
Actually we know now that it was the zionist slave trade that was responsible and a zionist marixst named Lincoln who drove the wedge between the white race that liberated them almost 150 yrs ago and its been choas ever since.
Whites are not perfect and they are very stupid at times but each race has enough problems within its own confines without adding to them and mixing the races adds an insurmountable complexity of catastrophic proportions to the white race who does not benefit by this act and is only damaged because of the corporate elite selfishness.

Yes, blacks in South Africa are more likely to get HIV/AIDS because they eat poorly and have bad immune systems as a result.

They live poorly because they live in shacks. And they are exposed to unsanitary conditions, making them more prone to parasites, bacterias, and fungis.

If they are promiscuous, then they are exposed to STDs, which further make them sick. They will never get better until these issues are fixed.

Fix the cause, and don't just treat the symptoms with drugs.

I would like to know why dark-skinned people throughout the world have higher rates of HIV. To suggest promiscuity or bisexuality are false explanations.
